Join Us – COPD Management Workshop: Reducing Readmissions

This workshop is designed to help caregivers manage the COPD patient.

  • Review the Pathophysiology of COPD.
  • Describe components of diagnosis, and the clinical and physical assessment for a COPD patient including: Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) Assessment and Management Spirometry Diffusing capacity Oximetry.
  • Discuss the management techniques currently used in stable and exacerbations of COPD.

Stepping It Up Contest Winners

Throughout the month of February, we celebrated #AmericanHeartMonth by having a staff contest to see who could accumulate the most steps throughout the month.

Did you know Blueberry Hill Employees walked a total of 1,006,105 steps throughout the month? Great job to all!

Congratulations to Chelsea White, Rehab File Clerk on winning our “Stepping It Up” at Blueberry Hill Contest with 251,693 steps for the month of February.

Chelsea has been part of the team for a few years now and is integral to the progression of patient care by supporting her fellow rehabilitation staff members. She maintains an inventory of Rehab equipment and supplies the therapist with what they need in order to maximize patient outcomes.

Chelsea won a Spa Pleasures Gift Basket along with a $100.00 gift certificate to Massage Envy.

We would also like to congratulate Aida Alamillo, Activity Assistant here at Blueberry Hill for being the Runner-Up in our “Stepping It Up” at Blueberry Hill Contest with 159,519 steps throughout the month of February.

It’s not surprising that Aida Alamillo was able to get in so many steps in February! She is always full of energy and is always on the go. Her personality and loving nature are what makes her so special. She has been here for over two years and is an essential part of the activity team. She was born I’m the Philippines and now lives in Beverly, MA with her husband and four beautiful children.

Aida won a Burt’s Bees Hand Repair Kit w/a gift certificate to Dunkin Donuts.

Blood Drive with Massachusetts General Hospital on Feb. 16

Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center invites the community to a blood drive in partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital. An MGH Blood Donor Center bloodmobile – a bus equipped with mobile blood-giving stations and staffed by a nurse and phlebotomist – will be stationed at Blueberry Hill for the event, which coincides with “Heart Health Month.” To sign up to give blood, please call Jennifer Tineo at 978-927-2020.

Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Honors Resident Veterans With Pinning Ceremony

On Wednesday, November 2nd Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center honored resident veterans and their families with a pinning ceremony. Sponsored by Beacon Hospice, Sergeant John Fellows saluted each veteran, placed a pin on their collar and offered the certificate of appreciation. The ROTC of Beverly High School presented the colors. Bob Gilbert, past Commander of Beverly Veterans had inspirational words from firsthand experience as a veteran. Senator Joan Lovely, thanked the veterans and their families for sacrificing their time and enabling all of us to enjoy the freedom of being a U.S.citizen. Representatives from Senator Bruce Tarr’s office, State Representative Jerry Parisella’s office, thanked the veterans as well.
