Essex is a town in Essex County, Massachusetts, 26 miles north of Boston. The population was 3,504 at the 2010 census. Essex was incorporated as a town in 1819. It was previously a part of the town of Ipswich and was then called Chebacco Parish. The first European settlers arrived in 1634.

The colonial-era farmhouse on the property serves as a rich backdrop for their celebrated collection, assembled over a period of nearly sixty years.

Essex Lions Club – The Club supports Lions International eye research and attempts to meet as many ad hoc requests as possible.

Essex Society of Genealogists – Located at the Local History and Genealogy Room of the Lynnfield Public Library. The collection includes approximately 3000 volumes of genealogies and town histories. The collection also includes a complete run of the Massachusetts vital records in printed form and on microfiche, microfilm of Essex county census, early probate, and deed records, and many journals and genealogical periodicals.
